MARY REESE COMMUNITY ACCESS FUND
The Mary Reese Community Access Fund was established to provide outreach and scholarships to students, and members of our community, who otherwise would not be able to have access to The Paramount events and programs. Through outreach to groups such as the Boys & Girls Club of Central Virginia, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Charlottesville Community Attention, International Neighbors, Parade Rest and many more, members of our community, who may not otherwise be able to attend the shows, are offered complimentary tickets. In the most recently completed fiscal year, more than 2,000 outreach tickets were offered. In addition, nonprofit organizations are able to utilize theater space at a discounted rate. In FY15-16, this program enabled close to 50 local nonprofit organizations to host performances and events that were supported by thousands of event attendees. These groups ranged from the Virginia Film Festival to the Festival of the Photograph, Legal Aid Justice, Festival of the Book, and many more. Also, as part of the Community Access Program, we open our doors for select events at no charge to the public. These events that give back to the public are an integral part of our mission.
The Paramount’s mission is to Educate, Enchant, Enrich, and Enlighten. Our funds allow us to achieve this by supporting specific aspects of our community-focused mission.
