First Night Virginia transforms the Charlottesville Historic Downtown Mall into a New Year’s Eve extravaganza with over 40 performances of music, magic, dance, improv and more, all finished off with the midnight ball drop. First Night Virginia entertainment, which runs from 3:00pm until after midnight, will delight everyone young and old.
This year’s music lineup—made up of mostly local artists—includes jazz from the Greg Howard Uptet, blues from Eli Cook, 80’s bluegrass from Love Canon, swing from ACME Swing Mfg. Co. and much more. Kids can enjoy endless entertainment at “Coney Island,” an event featuring boardwalk-style carnival games and street performers, plus magic and juggling performances. Finishing things off at midnight, the outrageously fun group Groove Train will be ringing in the New Year at the Main Street Arena.
Headlining act Jason Bishop —America’s hottest illusionist— amazes all audiences with his stunning state-of-the art magic, breathtaking illusions and award-winning sleight of hand. This is a show you don’t want to miss at The Paramount Theater.
