About The Musicians

Benita (Bonnie) Gold-Slater is a graduate of The Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University. She has won several awards, including the Yale Gordon Concerto Competition, The Itzaak Perlman Young Soloist, Senatorial Scholarship from Maryland, and Disabled Person of the Year in Maryland. As a performer, she has traveled to Scotland, Belgium, Lincoln Center in New York City, and has performed many times at The Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. Bonnie has performed for four different presidents of the United States and Bill Clinton’s Inauguration, but her most exciting moment was performing for the Emperor and Empress of Japan. While performing, she taught in Frederick and Montgomery County Public Schools. Bonnie currently teaches saxophone and clarinet at the Field School in Crozet, Scholarship students for the C’ville Band, and her own studio of woodwinds, brass, and piano students in Albermarle County. Music is her passion, and her daughters Eva and Mia are the most important people in her life.

Originally from Southern Maryland, Staff Sergeant Nicholas “Nicco” Feemster comes from a musical family, taking inspiration from his grandfather Herb Fame of the Grammy-nominated R&B duo Peaches & Herb. Alongside SSGT Lamar Riddick, he is one of the first two hip-hop artists to be hired by the Department of Defense.
