Charlottesville Chamber Music Festival Presents: Free Community Concert
No tickets necessary. Registration is encouraged, but not required.
The Charlottesville Chamber Music Festival, which draws the finest musicians from North America and abroad every September, celebrates its 25th season with concerts and events from September 8 to 19, 2024.
This free one-hour concert should appeal to both classical music fans and curious music explorers alike. Children over the age of 6 who can sit quietly and listen are welcome to attend!
In this “taster” concert, the Festival’s musicians perform the “best parts” of Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 3, an exhilarating conversation among violins, violas, and cellos; and Mendelssohn’s magical String Octet, a piece written by the precocious 16-year-old composer in 1825. Also on the program are several mesmerizing pieces by Renaissance and modern composers.

John Dowland Pavana Lachrymae (arr. William Byrd)
