About Compass Creative Dramatics (CCD)
CCD is a Chicago-based touring company that partners with community organizations like ours to offer creative, engaging theater programming designed to provide arts enrichment and cultivate personal growth and character.

About the Program
CCD’s one-week residency brings two professional artists to the Theater to collaborate with students and mount a full, theatrical production on The Paramount stage. This year’s performance is Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.

The residency begins with an audition, followed by a week of workshops and rehearsals, culminating with an original 60-minute musical adaptation that is open to the community to purchase tickets and attend. CCD provides all production elements, including professionally designed and produced music, costumes, props, sets, and make-up.

No acting experience is necessary – just a willingness to have fun, be creative, and learn about how a production works from start to finish. The residency is designed to build character traits purposefully and intrinsically, with participants stretching their muscles of creativity and bravery to develop trustworthiness, respect, and responsibility while taking creative risks and trusting without judgment.

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland
Synopsis: When she wakes from her tumble down the rabbit hole, Alice can’t believe her eyes: conversations with a caterpillar, races with dodos, and a picnic thrown by a mad court of playing cards all turn Alice’s world on its head. Uncertain of her place in this foreign world of shrinking potions and never-ending tea parties, Alice confides in a wise Cheshire Cat, who helps her discover that it’s not where we go in the world, but the things we do there that define us.
