October 2020

To Our Community:

As the gathering place for the community, The Paramount Theater strives to educate, enchant, enrich, and enlighten through the power of the arts. In March 2020, when the impact of COVID-19 began to escalate in our region, The Paramount Theater closed its doors to do our part in keeping our community safe and healthy.

The Paramount sat dark for 127 days, reopening her doors for modified socially distanced events on July 15, 2020, under the direction of the CDC, the state of Virginia, and the city of Charlottesville’s guidelines. We put tremendous thought and resources into how we would safely reopen our doors to the community. Since then, we have opened our doors three times a week to welcome, at a safe distance, a significantly reduced number of patrons. As the public health crisis continues, our event numbers have remained below our cap of 50 guests per event, allowing us to keep our doors open with patron, volunteer, and staff safety as the highest priority. For those who have visited, we thank you! For those who are preparing to return for an event, we encourage you to visit the link below to watch our reopening video. We hope you will take a peek to see the changes you can anticipate for your next visit as we welcome you home to The Paramount.

While we know there is no guarantee of zero risk, we hope that when you choose to join us, you can do so knowing that it is our priority to make every reasonable effort to provide a safe and healthy environment to enjoy the arts. We have missed you!

Yours in community,

Christine Eure
