For Immediate Release

March 17, 2008

"Sizzling, sensational, definitely a must see event (Calgary Herald),” The StepCrew’s amped-up dancers and musicians perform a new style of dancing that combines Celtic-based dance traditions and modern tap with blazing fiddle work -- a blend of Tap Dogs and Riverdance, Natalie MacMaster and Savion Glover that takes traditional dance forms and fiddling to new heights!

With an international production featuring top talents who have danced and played with The Chieftains, Seven Nations, Bowfire, Altan, Cherish The Ladies, and Solas, The StepCrew will stomp their way into The Paramount Theater for a high-energy performance on Monday, March 31 at 7:30 pm. Suitable for the whole family, a special Youth/Child price to the show is being offered for those twelve and under.

Featuring a cast of seven outstanding dancers, The StepCrew incorporates Irish dancing with both Ottawa Valley step and tap dancing. Each style is showcased and then blended in a series of seamless transitions through traditional classics, modern interpretations of Celtic dances, and electrifying new choreography and compositions created especially for this debut tour.

The well-balanced variety of dance, instrumental, and vocal work features founding members Jon and Nathan Pilatzke (who performed at The Paramount previously with The Chieftains and Bowfire), Stephanie Cadman (the fiddling World Tap Dance Champion of Bowfire), Cara Butler (principal female dancer with The Chieftains), and Dan Stacey (Seven Nations). This twelve-member troupe also includes choreographer/dancer Sarah Uddin, dancer Joe Dwyer, vocalist Courtney Farquhar (Riverdance), and a four-piece band.

While this new production began touring in Summer 2007, some of The StepCrew’s members have worked together for more than ten years. As Cadman has stated about the performers in the physically demanding, high impact show, “some of the members of the group have been doing it for so long, [that] it’s all muscle memory at this point.”

From jigs and clogs to a chair dance and much more, The StepCrew’s awesome rhythmic power guarantees a fast-paced, swirling evening of fiddles and feet.

Seats are still available for The StepCrew’s Paramount Theater performance on March 31. Tickets are $40.50, $43.50, $46.50, and $51.50, with a Youth/Child price of $25.50. Half-price student rush tickets and group discounts are offered.

Tickets are available online or through The Paramount’s Box Office at 434.979.1333.
