Friday, December 7, The Paramount is pleased to invite the public to see photographs of penguins, seals and other wildlife that inhabit remote beaches, fields and mountains in the South Atlantic, including Antarctica. This is the work of local photographer Vicky Eicher. This is the work of local photographer Vicky Eicher.
Taking every opportunity to explore nature through her camera lens,
these images are the result of a December 2005 photographic expedition
from the Falkland Islands to Antarctica. While she tried to maintain a
respectful distance from the wildlife, no one told the wildlife to respect
her space!
As a result, these photos include amazing close-ups of exotic wildlife
going about their daily activities in areas filled with icebergs, glaciers,
snow, and tough wild grass. Using both digital and film cameras, Eicher
still chases the elusive "perfect" photograph.
Eicher is a member of the Charlottesville Camera Club, the League of
Reston Artists (Reston VA), and Focus Group Camera Club (Richmond
VA). Her photographs have been accepted in League of Reston Artists juried multi-media shows, and she staged her first solo exhibit at the main branch of the
Richmond Public Library in July 2007.
Awards include the League of Reston Artists Equal Merit Award [First Place] in February 2007, a ribbon at the 2007 Scottsville Photography Show, and being short-listed for "Best in Show" in the juried 2007 Meadowlark Gardens Nature Photography Expo in Vienna VA.
Eicher's Paramount exhibit will open in conjunction with First Fridays
on Friday, December 7 from 5:30 to 7 pm.
The exhibit will be installed in the Theater's ballroom, adjacent to
the grand lobby on the ground floor. Admission is free.
Ticketholders to Paramount performances can also view the exhibit
throughout the month of December.
