For Immediate Release

September 14, 2007

In a repeat performance commemorating the 30th anniversary of the King of rock ‘n’ roll’s passing, Elvis will be in the building --again -- in the person of singer Matt Lewis and the tribute Long Live the King, appearing at The Paramount Friday, September 28 at 8 pm. Widely thought to be the best interpreter of the King, USA Today has stated that “few impersonators have him down like Lewis, who brings down the house.”

Backing Lewis are special guests for this concert, hometown favorites Big Ray and the Kool Kats.

This performance is sponsored by A.G. Dillard, Inc. Special Media Sponsor is SuperHits 102.3 -- Super Hits of the 60s and 70s.

Matt Lewis has spent more than twenty years perfecting his Elvis tribute. Long Live the King is an epic multimedia event spanning Elvis’ entire career, from the energetic fifties and the emotionally-raw sixties to the bombastic seventies. The show also includes sections devoted to Elvis’ movie hits and gospel music. Lewis’ singing -- all live, not lip-synched -- sounds strikingly like Elvis, and his dancing and stage presence allow his audiences a taste of a live concert experience with the King.

Lewis has toured the world, entertaining audiences in almost every major city in the United States as well as Singapore, Germany, Australia, Poland, Canada, and Japan.  He has performed with Elvis’ back-up band, The Jordanaires, and currently headlines the Legends in Concert show at the Imperial Palace on the Las Vegas strip.

Performing with Lewis and also returning to The Paramount’s stage, hometown favorites Big Ray and the Kool Kats bring a big sound, professionalism, and versatility. Recent concerts have taken them to Las Vegas, New York City, and Cabo San Lucas, as well as the last three Kennedy Center Galas. Led by trumpeter Ray Caddell, whose live and recording credits include appearances with Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, and Natalie Cole among others, Big Ray and the Kool Kats have shared stages with Michael Feinstein, Liza Minelli, Chicago, Tower of Power, and Marvin Hamlisch.

The Paramount is inviting the public to “make it an Elvis weekend” with two screenings of Viva Las Vegas (1964) the day following the performance of Long Live the King. Racecar driver Lucky Martin (Presley) arrives in Vegas with his car -- unluckily -- in tow, hoping to repair his auto in time to drive in the Las Vegas Grand Prix.

Considered one of the most entertaining Elvis movies, the film succeeds largely due to the chemistry shared between Presley and sexy inferno Ann-Margret, as well as the joyously energetic musical numbers. Viva Las Vegas will show on Saturday, September 29 at 4 and 7 pm. Tickets are $6, with a $4 Youth/Child price applying to those aged twelve and under.

Seats for Matt Lewis’ performance of Long Live the King on Friday, September 28 are $31.50, $34.50, $37.50, and $42.50. Student rush and group discounts are available.

Tickets may be purchased online or through The Paramount’s Box Office at 434.979.1333.
