For Immediate Release

August 30, 2007

One of the most popular groups from the 60s through the 80s, The 5th Dimension gave us the classics "“Up, Up and Away," "Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In," "Never My Love," "Wedding Bell Blues," "(Last Night) I Didn’t Get to Sleep At All," and many more. Seven-time Grammy winners with 20 Top 40 hits, 14 gold records, and six platinum records, they were 2002 inductees of the Vocal Group Hall of Fame.

The 5th Dimension will "let the sunshine in" with a performance to open The Paramount Theater's Fall/Winter 2007-08 Season on Sunday, September 9 at 8 pm, featuring new material and plenty of their greatest songs.

This performance is sponsored by A.G. Dillard, Inc. Special Media Sponsor is SuperHits 102.3 -- Super Hits of the 60s and 70s.

Recording the song "Up, Up and Away" in 1967, a little-known vocal group called The 5th Dimension found they’d produced one of the biggest smash hits in musical history, a single that won several Grammy Awards and capitulated the group to stardom.

Preferring for the group to be innovators rather than imitators, original member Florence LaRue -- celebrating her 42nd year with the group! -- along with Willie Williams, Leonard Tucker, Michael Mishaw, and Jamila Ajibade perform a show featuring the intricate harmonies that make the distinctive 5th Dimension sound.

While their family-oriented concerts today feature more vocal range than ever, as well as material that is fresh and varied, the group also works hard to remain true to the sound of The 5th Dimension’s original recordings.

The group has headlined in both Las Vegas and Atlantic City regularly and continues to tour extensively throughout the rest of the United States, Europe and Asia. Performances on The Ed Sullivan Show and at Radio City Music Hall with Frank Sinatra are favorite highlights of their past, but recent appearances on PBS in concert across the nation have allowed The 5th Dimension to grow with the times, appeal to audiences of all ages and nationalities, and introduce their music to a new generation.

Tickets for The 5th Dimension at The Paramount on Sunday, September 9 are $43.50, $46.50, $49.50, and $54.50. Half-price student rush tickets and group discounts are also available.

Tickets are availble online or through The Paramount's Box Office at 434.979.1333.
