Following his win on NBC’s Last Comic Standing, Josh Blue has rapidly ascended to elite status as one of America’s top comedians. Possessing what a fellow competitor described as “an unreasonable amount of likeability” coupled with impeccable comedic timing, he has developed a massive fan base and performs to sold-out crowds and standing ovations across the country.
Blue will bring his hilarious standup act to a Paramount Theater performance on Saturday, August 25 at 8 pm.
Refusing to bow to any of challenges that come from living with cerebral palsy, Blue jokes, “I realize that people are going to stare so I want to give them something to stare at.” Prior to his Last Comic win, Josh appeared as a guest star on Comedy Central’s Mind of Mencia and was featured on Fox, CBS, ABC, and MSNBC.
He has since become the first comedian to perform stand-up on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, was named Best Winning Reality Show Guest for his appearance on Live with Regis and Kelly, and made a standout appearance on Comics Unleashed.
Blue became the first comic to debut his stand-up special on the big screen when his debut DVD, 7 More Days in the Tank (produced and distributed by own production company, How About Now Video Production, for the Bravo Network) was shown in movie theatres across the country prior to its release. Blue is also a repeat guest on such nationally syndicated radio shows as NPR’s Talk of the Nation and The Mancow Show.
Despite his hectic touring schedule, Blue maintains an active role on the US Paralympic Soccer Team. He competed in the 2004 Paralympic Games in Athens. On the team’s limited practice time -- compared to those of other countries who train together year around -- Blue says, “I’m starting to realize that no matter how many times we watch that movie Miracle, it’s just not gonna happen!”
One of the most unique and dynamic comedians of his generation, Blue possesses the rare ability to motivate, inspire, and entertain, while never losing sight of the primary objective of making people laugh. “Not only is Josh Blue America’s funniest comedian, he’s breaking down barriers for people with disabilities,” said Stephen Bennett, President and CEO of United Cerebral Palsy. “He has shown millions of Americans that people with disabilities can live without limits.”
Tickets for a Paramount evening of standup with Josh Blue on Saturday, August 25 are $28.50, $31.50, $34.50, and $39.50. Half-price student rush tickets and group discounts are also available.
Tickets are available online or through The Paramount’s Box Office at 434.979.1333.
