Terri Clark is possibly the hardest working showgirl in country music. Clark has emerged as a singular voice on country’s landscape -- driving, passionate, spirited -- and every bit her own woman.
With hits including “I Just Wanna Be Mad,” “You’re Easy on the Eyes,” “When Boy Meets Girl,” “I Wanna Do It All,” “Poor Poor Pitiful Me,” and “Girls Lie Too,” this dynamic, no-holds-barred live performer will give a concert at The Paramount Theater on Thursday, August 23 at 8 pm.
Special Media Sponsor is Country 99.7 -- “THE Country Music Station for Charlottesville and the Valley.”
A prolific songwriter and hard-charging traditionalist, Clark has defined herself as the voice of real women putting in the hours and the men who love them. After spending years playing dive bars and entering talent competitions, Clark hit the charts in 1995 with “Better Things to Do” and never looked back.
Connecting with listeners in a very genuine way, Clark reaches past the obvious for the real-life bottom line in her music, embracing strength and vulnerability, playfulness, sexiness, and a refreshing emotional candor. Only Terri Clark could release a song called “Dirty Girl” - and make it about four-wheeling and tearing down engines.
One of the rare female country artists capable of throwing down some impressive guitar work, the Alberta, Canada native toured with such superstars as Brooks & Dunn, Reba McEntire, and George Strait on her way to becoming a five-time, fan-voted Canadian Country Music Association Entertainer of the Year.
With more than four million albums sold and nearly a dozen Top 10 hits to her credit, she is the first Canadian female to be inducted into the prestigious Grand Ole Opry, and has received multiple CMA and ACM Female Vocalist nominations in addition to a pair of Juno Awards and a remarkable 13 CCMA trophies.
She followed the 2004 release of her Greatest Hits with 2005’s acclaimed Life Goes On, in a year which found her nominated as the ACM Top Female Vocalist and taking home her third CCMA Female Artist of the Year award. Now signed to BNA Records (label home to superstar Kenny Chesney), 2007 marks the release of My Next Life, featuring a “greasier, grittier” sound and the above-mentioned single “Dirty Girl.”
Speaking of her music, Clark says, “You want to reach people where they live, pull them in, and make them feel not so alone, even as you’re making them feel good. You want to get in their car with them, on the radio or listening to the CD and give them something they can hold on to, feel passionate about. Passion, at this point, is everything.”
Tickets for An Evening with Terri Clark at The Paramount on Thursday, August 23 at 8 pm are $58.50, $61.50, $64.50, and $69.50.
Tickets are available online or through The Paramount’s Box Office at 434.979.1333.
