Today The Paramount Theater announced a change in the opener for the standup evening headlined by comic D.L. Hughley this Friday, June 1 at 9 pm.  Comedian Malik. S will open the evening, replacing David Raibon who was previously scheduled to appear.

Bringing joy and laughter to the hearts of many, Malik. S’s style of comedy and universal material brings gut-busting laughs in Def Jam as well as mainstream clubs.  His act is based on everyday life situations, with a lot of creative humor in between.  Malik. S has appeared on six consecutive seasons of BET’s Comic View (1999-2005), NBC’s Last Comic Standing in 2006, and HBO’s P. Diddy Presents The Bad Boyz of Comedy.  He has also performed overseas for the U.S. armed services in Germany.

D.L. Hughley is a seasoned actor and one of the most popular, highly-recognized, hardest-working stand-up comedians on the road today.  From the mega-hit film Original Kings of Comedy to NBC’s Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, his late-night Comedy Central show Weekends at the DL to his sitcom The Hughleys, to national and international performances on the road, Hughley does it all. 

Speculating on why audiences seem to respond to him so easily, Hughley thinks “there’s a lot of material in my act that is positive and real, which is what is what my show is all about.  I just want to be great at making people laugh - everybody wants to be great at something.  From the moment I picked up a microphone, I knew that this is what I was supposed to do!”
