 Point of Grace
For the women of Point of Grace, nothing could be more exciting than basking in the warmth of the holidays.  The group will do just that through a December 1 date on their Winter Wonderland Tour at The Paramount Theater, to feature an eclectic blend of Christmas melodies in bold, memorable settings.  Also performing at that night’s 8 pm concert will be accomplished singer-songwriter Scott Krippayne.  Adding a hometown twist with their buoyant vocals will be Charlottesville’s own Mount Zion First African Baptist Church Sanctuary Choir under the direction of Jonathan K. Spivey

Special Media Sponsors for this event are X103 The Cross WLTK and 1150 WNLR.

For more than a decade, Point of Grace has chosen to encourage and inspire others with a musical and spiritual message.  In the process, they’ve sold five million albums, won 8 Dove Awards, received two Grammy nods and garnered two platinum records, five gold records, and 24 consecutive No. 1 singles.  Shelley Breen, Heather Payne, and Denise Jones also credit their newest member, Leigh Cappillino, with adding a new excitement to their tried and true sound.

A former member of the vocal group Truth, and a featured worship leader with Women of Faith conferences, Leigh was already like one of the family.  It’s no wonder, given that her husband, Dana, has spent the last seven years playing guitar for Point of Grace and serving as their bandleader.  As a result, Leigh brings a new excitement about the group’s future as well as a respect for Point of Grace’s musical past.

The entire group recognizes the importance of striking that perfect balance between old and new.  For years, Point of Grace has put their best foot forward, ever mindful of their position as role models to young women around the world (their Girls of Grace conferences alone draw thousands each year and continue to grow).   Continuing to choose God and to take His message of encouragement, love, and exhortation to the eager masses is something they plan to do for years to come. “We still have something to say,” Payne says. “As long as people will listen, we need to continue.”

If classified as a “singer-songwriter,” the latter part of the designation for Scott Krippayne deserves to be in bold letters. Krippayne has written many songs for the likes of Avalon, Point of Grace, Jaci Velasquez, FFH, True Vibe, John Tesh, and Sandi Patty, and released five albums of his own piano-based pop/rock.  “Billy Joel and Elton John were big influences on me,” explains Scott. “If you’re a piano player, you tend to choose one or the other as you are growing up. But I love both of them as musicians and love those old Billy Joel/Elton John records that are really piano-based and allow the singer-songwriter/piano-player to come out.”

Weaving together intensity, clarity, and depth on music with a strong message, Krippayne comments that “worship doesn’t just have to be what we sing on a Sunday morning, or singing songs at a Wednesday night service.  The lives that we lead can be acts of worship.”

Seats for the Point of Grace Winter Wonderland Tour on Friday, December 1 are $50, $45, $42, and $39.   Students may obtain half-price student rush tickets at the Box Office with a valid ID 45 minutes prior to curtain.  Group discounts are also available.

Tickets and further details may be found online or through The Paramount’s Box Office at 434.979.1333.
