Big sounds and plenty of familiar hit tunes will be in store when hometown favorites Big Ray and the Kool Kats take the stage for their first-ever concert at The Paramount Theater.  The group’s professionalism and versatility have taken them to recent performances in Las Vegas, New York City, and Cabo San Lucas, as well as the last three Kennedy Center Galas.  Now the band makes a Paramount appearance in Charlottesville on Friday, November 17 at 8 pm.  This event is sponsored by A.G. Dillard Incorporated.

Led by trumpeter Ray Caddell, whose live and recording credits include appearances with Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, and Natalie Cole among others, Big Ray and the Kool Kats have shared stages with Michael Feinstein, Liza Minelli, Chicago, Tower of Power, and Marvin Hamlisch.  The group’s concerts feature songs ranging from “Respect” and “Rescue Me” to “Lady Marmalade” – “Midnight Train” and “Fly Me to the Moon” to “In the Mood.”   From jazz and big band to Motown, beach, Top 40, and hip jump swing tunes, the band truly has a little something for everybody.  

Rounding out this hometown engagement is an educational performance the band will give to a near-sold out audience of area elementary school students.  As stated by Caddell, “I’ve been performing for over 40 years, and from the very beginning I’ve always looked for opportunities to share my love of music within the community.”

Seats for the November 17 evening performance with Big Ray and the Kool Kats are $30, $25, $22, and $19.  Half-price student rush tickets are offered at the Box Office with a valid ID 45 minutes prior to the 8 pm curtain.  Tickets are available online or through The Paramount’s Box Office at 434.979.1333.
