The PendragonsAs the days grow short and the weather chills, two of the world’s most heralded illusionists will bring a show celebrating “things that go bump in the night” to Charlottesville.  Husband and wife illusionists Jonathan and Charlotte Pendragon will perform their dramatic and whimsical thrill ride The Ghosts of Broadway: The Pendragons at The Paramount Theater on Saturday, November 11 at 7:30 pm.

A truly unique melding of theatre and magic, The Ghosts of Broadway takes its inspiration from the idea that some theaters are “haunted” by real ghosts.   Star Jonathan Pendragon portrays a spirit medium who channels the ghosts of Broadway’s not-so-forgotten heroes.  Cyrano de Bergerac, the Phantom of the Opera, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Hamlet’s father, The Invisible Man, and more appear through dramatic vignettes of illusion.  The show travels to theater's dark side and back again, and at the conclusion the spirits return to their original haunting places to remain out of sight – mostly.

Jonathan and Charlotte Pendragon have entertained audiences in theaters and on television in over 50 countries, with signature performances that have included appearances for Presidents Clinton and Bush, the Queen of England, the Prince of Wales, and the Royal Family of Monaco.  They have starred in 14 prime time magic specials on NBC, CBS, ABC, FOX, PBS, Disney, and Showtime.

Jonathan is one of only five contemporary performers named to the 100 Most Influential Magicians of All Time list in Magic Magazine. Charlotte, the most honored woman in the history of the art form, was voted into England's famed Inner Magic Circle, being the first woman to ever receive this honor in the organizations’ 100-plus years.  She was also the first woman to receive "The Magician of the Year Award" from the famed Magic Castle. Together, The Pendragons have won that prestigious award twice -- a feat that only four other living magicians have accomplished.

The Pendragons entered The Guinness Book of World Records in 2005 for fastest trick in the world with their famous “Metamorphosis” illusion, which they will perform as part of The Ghosts of Broadway.

Seats for the November 11 Paramount performance of The Ghosts of Broadway are $45, $40, $37, and $34.   A special $25 Youth/Child ticket is available for those aged 12 and under.  Half-price student rush tickets are offered at the Box Office with a valid ID 45 minutes prior to the 7:30 curtain.

Tickets are available online or through The Paramount’s Box Office at 434.979.1333.
