The Paramount's 2005-2006 series of classic movies will conclude this May with a pair of romantic comedies in It Happened One Night on Saturday, May 13 and Sleepless in Seattle on Sunday, May 14.

Considered to be the first of the great "screwball comedies" of the 1930s, Frank Capra's It Happened One Night (1934) features Claudette Colbert as an elite socialite who tries to get out from under her father's thumb and falls in with rogue reporter Clark Gable in the process. Opposed to her marriage to fortune-hunter "King" Westley (Jameson Thomas), Colbert's wealthy father (Walter Connolly) has it annulled. Running away to reunite with King, Colbert meets up with Gable, and the two make a pact -- he will offer her assistance in exchange for the exclusive rights to her story. A series of adventures and mishaps follow, with a result that the couple never bargained on -- falling in love.

Nominated for two Academy Awards, 1993's Sleepless in Seattle stars Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. The movie tells the tale of widower Sam Baldwin (Hanks), whose eight-year old son Jonah (Ross Malinger) thinks that he needs a new wife. One evening Jonah calls in to a national radio advice show and persuades his father to go on the air. Sam's call is heard by thousands of women nationwide, including Annie Reed (Ryan), a journalist from Baltimore. Although engaged to someone else, Annie can't rest until she meets Sam. The star-crossed tale of this couple's journey to find each other culminates at the top of the Empire State Building, where the rest is history.

It Happened One Night will show at 7 pm on May 13 and Sleepless in Seattle will show at 2 pm on May 14. Tickets are $6 (with a Youth/Child price of $4 applying to those 18 and younger) and are available in advance through the theater's Box Office at 434.979.1333. The Box Office will also open two hours prior to each show time, and all seats are general admission.

The Paramount will continue to show movies in Summer 2006 and as part of the 2006-2007 Season of live performances. Schedules for both will be forthcoming. For the most recent information on events at The Paramount, please visit the online movie schedule at www.theparamount.net.
