For Immediate Release

August 9, 2005

Tickets for all shows in The Paramount Theater’s 2005-06 Season will go on sale to the general public on Monday, August 15, offering access to programs and performers such as Vince Gill, Arlo Guthrie, CeCe Winans, The Pat Metheny Trio, Doc Severinsen, The Miami City Ballet, and The Berenstain Bears On Stage.

The theater received extraordinary response to a pre-sale period that began July 25 for Paramount Members, which allowed early ticket purchasing for both new and previous contributors to the theater. The Member sales period has resulted in sold-out designations for regularly priced seats at big-name performances including Bill Cosby and cellist Yo-Yo Ma, whose February 24 concert filled in about two hours. However, a limited number of Patron event tickets for those two shows remain.

In addition, most of the performances on The Paramount’s schedule are still available. "We have great seats for a wide range of shows,” said Paramount Box Office Manager Matthew Simon. "There’s something for everyone, jazz, bluegrass, comedy, dance, drama. We can’t thank our Members enough for their enthusiasm over the new season, and now we’re also excited to open the schedule up for the public.”

New for the 2005-06 Season is a full schedule of movies on The Paramount’s big screen, continuing the tradition of the theater’s recent Summer Film Series. "A Day at The Movies” starts the series on September 24 with National Velvet and My Fair Lady. Other screenings include Gone With The Wind, White Christmas, The Magnificent Seven, Rocky, It Happened One Night, and Sleepless in Seattle.

Paramount tickets may be ordered online at www.theparamount.net, and by phone (434.979.1333), fax (434.979.1444), or mail (The Paramount Theater, PO Box 2309, Charlottesville, VA 22902). Hours for The Paramount’s Box Office are 10 am to 6:30 pm, Monday through Friday, and 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday. Orders which are received after closing will be processed during the next business day. Ticket requests will be filled in the order in which they are received, with the best-available seats being issued on a first-come, first-served basis. All sales are final.
