Enter The Paramount Theater today, and you know immediately you are in a very special place. Originally built in 1931, The Paramount is impeccably renovated and fully restored to its neoclassical grandeur. With a capacity of 1,040, The Paramount possesses an intimacy that is hard to duplicate. Members of the audience are never more than 75 feet from the stage, no matter where they sit.
We expect to welcome over 90,000+ patrons through the doors of the Theater for more than 200 events this year.
For many of the same reasons, The Paramount has become a preferred venue for performers. Looking out from the stage, they immediately recognize that Charlottesville is fortunate to have such a superb hall, and they respond with magnificent performances for The Paramount’s audiences.
Supporters are Paramount!
Like every non-profit organization, The Paramount depends on private and corporate contributions to fund a significant portion of its daily operations. Without the support of The Paramount’s donors we simply could not open and operate the Theater. Ticket sales cover less than half of our operating budget, and we depend on annual contributions to help close the gap. Donors at all levels receive advance ticket access for events and more – Join Today!
Event Sponsors Keep the Best Coming!
The intimate size of our theater makes attending a Paramount performance exciting, but our size also functions as a financial constraint. If we are to maintain the quality of our schedule and make tickets to these high-caliber performances widely affordable, we must seek sponsors to underwrite part of the costs of our performances. In addition, our Producer Club Sponsors provide general sponsorship for our overall season, ensuring that we are able to bring best-in-class artists to Charlottesville.
Specific Fund Support Allows the Community Greater Access to Everything We Do.
The Paramount’s mission is to Educate, Enrich, Enlighten and Entertain. Our funds allow us to achieve this by supporting specific aspects of our community-focused mission.
Arts Education Partnership – The Arts Education Program serves more than 16,000 school age children annually through special school-day performances, directly linked to Virginia SOL Objectives. The generosity of our Arts Education Sponsors and Partners has made it possible for approximately 140,000 students and teachers from all over Central Virginia to attend live theater at The Paramount since 2004.
Mary Reese Community Access Fund – The Mary Reese Community Access Fund allows us to offer tickets at no charge to underserved populations within our community, discounts to fellow nonprofit organizations, and enables us to open our doors for free community events. Last year alone, the Community Access Fund allowed us to give away nearly 1,000 tickets to people in need, and provide a community gathering place for events such as the Charlottesville Municipal Band Summer Concert Series, Annual Alternative Gift Fair, and the Annual Holiday Spotlight, just to name a few!
Classical Sponsors Circle – The Paramount Classical Sponsor Circle helps underwrite artist fees and production costs associated with classical music programming. Classical performers from Lang Lang to Renée Fleming, and performances including the Metropolitan Opera Series, come to Charlottesville thanks largely to support from our Classical Sponsor Circle donors.
We want to extend a special thank you to our audience members and supporters of The Paramount for playing a pivotal role in The Paramount Theater’s continuing operation.
If you believe in the mission of the Paramount we ask for your support. If you are not currently a supporter of The Paramount, please consider helping us to continue to bring the best in performing arts, educational programming and outreach opportunities to the greater Charlottesville community by making a tax-deductible contribution.
Thank you and see you at The Paramount!
