Tickets on sale Friday, May 18th at 10:00 AM.

Over the past five decades, the indelible spirit of New Orleans has been synonymous with the musical dynasty known as the Neville Brothers. For Aaron Neville the solo artist, there is an equally intimate connection between his music and the faith that has sustained him for his entire life. Through challenge and tragedy, he’s managed to thrive, protecting both his heart and his voice. Ask him how and he says simply this: “He who sings once, prays twice.”

The spirit of New Orleans is marked by an undying hope. On this project Aaron Neville captures that spirit—reflecting the hope of his hometown, drawing hope from his faith, spreading hope through his music.

2012 Charlottesville Area Better Business Challenge Awards Night

106 businesses are in competition – Don’t miss the unveiling!

The Better Business Challenge has been a year-long endeavor by local Charlottesville area businesses to increase their efficiency through sustainable actions. Participating businesses selected the right actions for them from among 6 scorecard categories, received individual consultations from UVa Student Concierges, attended Lunch n’ Learn trainings on hot topics, traded tips and successes, and ‘walked the walk.’

Come celebrate the innovative, inspirational, and interesting approaches businesses took as we roll out the green carpet!

Awards will be given to Challenge Champions, Green Innovator, Kill-o-watt Crackdown winners and more!

Cocktails and Hors D’oeuvres from 10 local restaurants will be served. Coy Barefoot and Teri Kent (Better World Betty) will emcee.

This event is open to the entire Charlottesville community. The ticket price is a suggested donation to offset the costs of the Challenge programming, trainings, and events.

A special thanks to our Awards Night Platinum Sponsor:

Biography
In 1956 The U.S. Army Chorus was established as the vocal counterpart of The U.S. Army Band “Pershing’s Own,” and is one of the nation’s only professional men’s choruses. From its inception, The U.S. Army Chorus has established and maintained a reputation of excellence in the performance of male choral literature. Beyond the traditional military music and patriotic standards, the repertoire of the Army Chorus covers a broad spectrum which includes pop, Broadway, folk, and classical music.
The Army Chorus performs frequently at the White House, the Vice President’s Residence, the U.S. Capitol, the Supreme Court, and the State Department. World leaders, such as the President of France Nicolas Sarkozy, former Presidents Jose Maria Aznar of Spain, Lech Walesa of Poland, and Mikhail Gorbachev of the Soviet Union have been serenaded by the Army Chorus during state visits. These visiting dignitaries are often greeted in their native tongues, as the Chorus is able to sing in more than 26 languages.

Begin your summer vacation with this entertaining visit to The Eternal City, Rome!

Concessions will include locally-made Italian favorites, pizza and spumoni. Our special thanks to Chaps Ice Cream and Vita Nova.

A cynical newsman and an innocent princess-to-be meet in sunny Rome and fall under the spell of each other and the romantic city. In a short and magical few days, each matures and learns valuable lessons from the experiences of the other. Audrey Hepburns is stunning as the princess in this her first major role: wide-eyed at a world she’s rarely experienced, yet beautiful and regal. Gregory Peck is perfection as the reporter who is, unwillingly at first, but increasingly drawn to Hepburn’s princess. Eddie Albert – yes, of 1960′s TV Green Acres fame – provides the everyday Joe’s perspective: a dose of reality delivered with a sense of humor.

Nominated for ten Academy Awards, Roman Holiday took awards for Best Actress (Audrey Hepburn), Best Costume Design (Edith Head, black & white), and Best Writing, Motion Picture Story (Dalton Trumbo, who at this time had been blacklisted by the House UnAmerican Activities Committee, was only finally given credit for the script posthumously in 1992.) Hepburn also took home the best actress Golden Globe award. Astonishingly, Gregory Peck was not nominated for either the Academy Award or the Golden Globe.

Rated G, 1 hr. 58 min.
