Booker T. and Bettye LaVette ▪ February 18 ▪ 8pm ▪ $39.50/$34.50/$29.50 (on sale now)
Booker T. Jones is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, record producer and arranger, best known for fronting the band Booker T. and the MGs. He has also worked in the studios with some of the highest regarded artists of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries such as Otis Redding, Albert King, Wilson Pickett, Bob Dylan, and Stevie Wonder. He is both a Musicians Hall of Fame and Rock and Roll Hall of fame inductee. He was the 2010 Grammy winner for the Best Pop Instrumentalist Album, and he has earned a Grammy Award for lifetime achievement.
Bettye LaVette is one of the greatest soul singers in American music history, possessed of an incredibly expressive voice that one moment will exude a formidable level of strength and intensity and the next will appear vulnerable, reflective, reeking of heartbreak. Although LaVette has been recording for over four decades, up to this point she has remained criminally unknown. Her latest CD, Interpretations: The British Rock Songbook debuted in the top 60 of Billboard Top 200 in its first week of release! She also debuted at #5 on the Indie releases chart and #1 on Billboard’s Blues chart! The album features songs composed by The Beatles, Rolling Stones, The Who, Eric Clapton, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd among others.
Randy Newman ▪ March 1 ▪ 8pm ▪ $49.50/44.50/39.50
If Randy Newman’s self-titled 1968 debut on Reprise Records, co-produced by his childhood friend Lenny Waronker and the now equally legendary arranger Van Dyke Parks, seemed out of step with the times upon its release, that’s perhaps because he had created something timeless. Newman combined sophisticated orchestrations and indelible melodies with story-song lyrics that veered between the unabashedly romantic and the sarcastically humorous.
Over the course of 40 years, Newman has released 10 albums of original studio material, has been a prolific film music composer, a regular Academy Award nominee, and, in 2002, an Oscar winner for “If I Didn’t Have You” from Monsters, Inc. In recent years, he has specialized in composing for an impressive range of critically acclaimed, commercially blockbuster family films, including Toy Story, James and The Giant Peach, A Bug’s Life, Toy Story 2, Monsters, Inc, and Cars. Though Newman projects the image of misanthrope in his own work, he summons tremendous warmth, tenderness, and a gentler form of humor in the songs he’s created for these movies. Newman is also a five-time Grammy Award winner, and the recipient, in 2002, of the Recording Academy’s prestigious Governors’ Award and has garnered three Emmys.
The Legendary Earl Scruggs with Family & Friends ▪ Mar 11▪ 8pm ▪ $44.50/34.50
Earl Scruggs is a musical pioneer, a revolutionary banjo player, and one of the best-known artists in the history of country music. He has received four Grammy Awards, a National Medal of the Arts, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, among other distinctions. He is an inductee to the Country Music Hall of Fame, and the International Bluegrass Music Association’s Hall of Honor. Scruggs began his career in 1945 with Bill Monroe. While a member of Monroe’s Blue Grass Boys, he met singer/guitarist Lester Flatt, with whom he would start Flatt & Scruggs and the Foggy Mountain Boys in 1948. The group became the most prominent band in bluegrass history and made popular this sound to millions of listeners with their theme to the enduring TV series The Beverly Hillbillies, “The Ballad of Jed Clampett.” Scruggs also wrote and recorded the instrumental “Foggy Mountain Breakdown” that was used throughout the movie Bonnie and Clyde. The instrumental won two Grammy Awards.
When he parted ways with Flatt in 1969, Scruggs then formed the Earl Scruggs Revue with his sons, and increased his audience further with a repertoire that included folk-rock and other outside influences with the traditional country genre. Scruggs remains an active performer with concert tours, recordings, and TV appearances.

The result is a musical and spiritual alchemy that has touched a worldwide audience representing every corner of the religious, cultural and ethnic landscape. Their musical efforts over the past four decades have garnered praise and accolades within the recording industry, but also solidified their identity as a cultural force to be reckoned with. Grease Sing A Long ▪ March 25 ▪ 8pm ▪ $10.00/7.00
Grease has been remastered to be brighter and shinier than ever before. What makes Grease Sing-A-Long such an event is the addition of lyrics to the bottom of the screen along with an open invitation to sing your heart out and dance in the aisle while watching Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta at his prime.
The moment the Grease soundtrack starts, chills rush up and down your spine, your heart thrills and you find yourself belting out words you assumed were long since forgotten, and the few you don’t remember are dancing helpfully across the bottom of the screen – just below John Travolta’s adorably dimpled chin.
But this isn’t your mama’s karaoke sing-a-long and don’t expect a boring yellow ball bouncing over the words. The lyrics have been wittily animated and worked seamlessly into the story, slyly winking at the audience and giving some extra sass.
Judy Collins ▪ April 1 ▪ 8pm ▪ $44.50/39.50/29.50
Judy Collins has thrilled audiences worldwide with her unique blend of interpretative folksongs and contemporary themes. Her impressive career has spanned more than 50 years. At 13, Judy Collins made her public debut performing Mozart’s Concerto for Two Pianos but it was the music of such artists as Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger, as well as the traditional songs of the folk revival, that sparked Judy’s love of lyrics. She soon moved away from the classical piano and began her lifelong love with the guitar.
In 1961, Judy Collins released her first album, A Maid of Constant Sorrow, at the age of 22 and began a thirty-five year association with Jac Holzman and Elektra Records. She interpreted the songs of fellow artists – particularly the social poets of the time such as Bob Dylan, Phil Ochs and Tom Paxton. Judy was instrumental in bringing other singer-songwriters to a wider audience including poet/musician Leonard Cohen – and musicians Joni Mitchell and Randy Newman.

Russian National Ballet Theatre ▪ Giselle ▪ April 22 ▪ 7:30p ▪ $54.50/44.50/39.50
The Russian National Ballet Theatre was founded in Moscow during the transitional period of Perestroika in the late 1980s, when many of the great dancers and choreographers of the Soviet Union’s ballet institutions were exercising their new-found creative freedom by starting new, vibrant companies dedicated not only to the timeless tradition of classical Russian Ballet but to invigorate this tradition as the Russians began to accept new developments in the dance from around the world.
The company, then titled the Soviet National Ballet, was founded by and incorporated graduates from the great Russian choreographic schools of Moscow, St. Petersburg and Perm. The principal dancers of the company came from the upper ranks of the great ballet companies and academies of Russia, and the companies of Riga, Kiev and even Warsaw. Today, the Russian National Ballet Theatre is its own institution, with over 50 dancers of singular instruction and vast experience, many of whom have been with the company since its inception.
