Voted best dance performance of the San Francisco Fringe Festival, inFluxdance enthralls audiences with their integration of dance, theatre, and American Sign Language. The delightfully groundbreaking choreography of Rose Pasquarello Beauchamp, Alysia Woodruff, and Tanja London pushes the boundaries of interdisciplinary dance to illuminate who we are as humans striving and connecting through movement as language. Having a strong interest in collaboration, accessibility, communication and outreach, inFluxdance is dedicated this season not only to making dance accessible, but also supporting the work of emerging choreographers.

This Charlottesville premiere kicks off inFluxdance’s North American tour with five captivating pieces of dance artistry:

Sliding Glass Doors choreographed and performed by Alysia Woodruff debuted in Boston January ’06 as a collaboration with Deaf poet Ayisha Knight-Shaw. For this show only, Knight-Shaw returns to perform her poem in American Sign Language.

Identity Crisis, conceived and performed by Alysia Woodruff and Rose Pasquarello Beauchamp, will find the simplicity in relationship while investigating the complexity of roles we try to define as women.

In Authority ... Beauty choreographed and performed by Rose Pasquarello Beauchamp, Tanja London and a mannequin named Dale move through the relationship between body image and historical beauty ideals.

Way Back in the Day Inspired by Dr. Seuss’ the Lorax, this is a quirky, vibrant movement exploration of the human issues that threaten to destroy the planet and beauty as we know it.

The more I think and think and think the smaller I become by emerging choreographer Kasey Johnson is a restless investigation of nervous tics and obsessive compulsive behaviors.

The show is fully accessible to both deaf and hearing audiences.
