On moving his court to Vienna in 1498, Emperor Maximilian I instructed that six boys be among his musicians – thus founding the Vienna Boys Choir. Today 100 choristers between the ages of ten and fourteen, divided into four touring choirs, present 300 concerts and performances annually for nearly half a million people. Their repertoire includes everything from medieval to contemporary, children’s operas to experimental music. Expect a festive theme, sacred and folk music from around the world, and angelic voices!
