Chicago’s legendary sketch and improv comedy theatre takes the stage at The Paramount Theater with “The Second City Hits Home,” a new  show  featuring hilarious sketches, songs, and improvisation about Charlottesville as well as material from the famed Second City archives.

Taking Chance depicts Strobl’s real-life experience as he escorted the remains of fallen Marine LCpl Chance Phelps to Phelps’ home in Dubois, Wyoming for final burial.  LCpl Phelps was killed in action outside Baghdad during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Kevin Bacon plays Strobl in Taking Chance. The HBO film was nominated for two Golden Globe awards and ten Emmy awards including Outstanding Made for Television Movie and Outstanding Writing for a Mini-Series, Movie, or Dramatic Special. Strobl and his co-author, Ross Katz, won the 2009 Humanitas Award for their screenplay and the 2010 Writers Guild of America award for best adapted screenplay for a television movie.

  • Student Rush Persons with a valid student ID or proof of enrollment are eligible to purchase remaining tickets to all Paramount Presents performances at a 50% discount at the Box Office 45 minutes prior to show time.
  • Youth/Child Tickets Youth/Child tickets are for patrons ages 12 and younger. All children must have a ticket (no "babes in arms").
