On Friday, November 15th 2013, TEDxCharlottesville will host its first TEDx event, “The Difference That Makes a Difference” at The Paramount Theater in Charlottesville. “The Difference That Makes a Difference” is the first-ever standard TEDx event in Charlottesville, Virginia and will be presented by The Paramount Theater and Starr Hill Presents.

TEDxCharlottesville ticket admittance price is $88.00 and includes access to all speakers and experiences, a continental breakfast, complimentary lunch, and a post-event party at the Jefferson Theater (see full scehdule below). To make the event as accessible as possible, the TEDxCharlottesville team has allotted 250 tickets for scholastic and community use.

Dawn Averitt – Founder of The Well Project, a leader in the fight against HIV and AIDS

Tony Beasley – Director of “ALMA” (Atacama Large Millimeter/sub-millimeter Array)

Ralph Cohen – Co-Founder of American Shakespeare Center.

Dr. Jeffrey Elias, M.D. – Focused Ultrasound Surgery, using focused ultrasound for the

treatment of movement disorders such as Essential Tremor and Parkinson’s disease.

R. Edward Freeman – University Professor and Olsson Professor of Business Administration at

the University of Virginia Darden School of Business, prolific educator, consultant and speaker,

best known for his work on the topics of Stakeholder Management and Business Ethics.

Dr. Joel Fuhrman – American board-certified family physician that specializes in nutrition based

treatments for obesity and chronic disease.

Dr. Leslie Gordon, M.D. – Progeria Researcher, discovered the gene defect in Progeria.

John Hunter – World Peace Teacher, musician, teacher, filmmaker and game designer, John

Hunter has dedicated his life to helping children realize their full potential.

Zoë Romano – Runner, Zoë Goes Running, Zoë is attempting to be the first person to run the

Edwin Roa – Choreographer, Founder of Zabor Dance, Teaching confidence, social

Licensed by the people who host the renowned TED (Technology, Entertainment and Design) conference annually in Long Beach, California, the TEDxCharlottesville events are independently organized but follow the same format of lightning-fast talks on a central theme paired with compelling visuals. TEDx events are held around the world, many of them live streamed, addressing a wide range of topics related to science and culture.

  • Student Rush Persons with a valid student ID or proof of enrollment are eligible to purchase remaining tickets to all Paramount Presents performances at a 50% discount at the Box Office 45 minutes prior to show time.
  • Youth/Child Tickets Youth/Child tickets are for patrons ages 12 and younger. All children must have a ticket (no "babes in arms").
  • Group Sales Groups of 20 or more attending Paramount performances receive a 10% discount on the price of tickets (not valid for all shows). The complete order for a group should be placed at one time. Please contact the Box Office at 434.979.1333 for more information.
