Legal Aid Justice Center Presents: No Dream Deferred

No Dream Deferred: Bringing Immigration Reform Home – presented on three nights in three cities – will be moderated at the Charlottesville program by best-selling author John Grisham. The event will focus on the importance of comprehensive immigration reform as told through the stories of students eligible for deferred action status under President Obama’s executive order.

No Dream Deferred will highlight Legal Aid’s  work on behalf of immigrants and feature a screening of The Dream Is Now. Activists Erika Andiola, Gaby Pacheco and others will share their stories and the evening will be capped by a panel discussion of the current political landscape of immigration reform.

About the Film – The Dream Is Now

The Dream Is Now is a new 30-minute documentary – filmed at the same time the national debate on immigration reform was unfolding – by Academy Award-winning director, Davis Guggenheim (Waiting for Superman and An Inconvenient Truth). The Dream Is Now chronicles the stories of the undocumented children of immigrants who are desperate to earn their citizenship and give back to the only country they’ve ever called home. Both thought-provoking and moving, The Dream Is Now brings this pressing issue to America’s attention, where we can all debate, discuss, and decide for ourselves what is right, what is fair, and what is best for our nation.
