The Paramount Theater was chosen for the second consecutive year as the host venue for the biggest comedy tour to have ever visited the area, The United Nations of Comedy. As in last year’s visit, the tour features five national comedians sharing the Paramount Theater’s stage.
The show will feature five of today’s funniest comedians, as seen on Comedy Central, BET Comic View, HBO, MTV, and other national programs: Jason Andors (New York), Jon Laster (New York), Erin Foley (California), Sheng Wang (New York) and Skiba (Washington, D.C.).
The United Nations of Comedy Tour is the latest effort by Lifeview Marketing to promote cultural diversity in Charlottesville. Bringing people together through laughter is a sure shot way of bridging cultural gaps. With a line up made up of African-American, Caucasian, Asian, male and female as well as a member from the LGBT community, the goal is to represent the community at large. The Paramount is a community theater and the United Nations of Comedy was born in this community. As last year’s audience began departing from the Paramount Theater, the general consensus was total satisfaction and the show was the best comedy show they have ever seen.

Jon Laster is one of today’s hottest comedians in New York. From working the crowds of some of the most respectable comedy clubs in the country such as Caroline’s and the Boston Comedy Clubs, his interactive style of comedy keep the audience laughing non-stop. Jon visited Charlottesville as a headliner of the National Stand-Up Comedy Series over a year ago and the audience stated he was the best comedian they have seen in years. With this reaction, Jon was a must have comic on this All-Star line up. He has also appeared on “The Best of Comic View” every season for three years. Currently hosting his own online radio show, developing projects for film and television as well as hosting a weekly stand-up show in Brooklyn, NY., it doesn’t appear as if Jon Laster is slowing down at all. Now, Charlottesville will witness again why this comic has turned New York on its comic head.
He recalls being a Jewish kid in New York City when there wasn’t even a police station in Central Park wasn’t easy. Jason would get mugged and chased constantly. As an an attempt to survive the attacks, he would either learn how to fight or break dance. Since fighting was the furthest option, he learned how to dance. Which later led him to selecting comedy as a life choice and it has paid off in a major way.
